I remember when I first wrote a blog back in 1998 (before the term existed). I was using Dave Winer’s Frontier to maintain my site and Dave was doing something bloggish on his site at Scripting News. I thought, that would be a cool programming exercise. Display the most 3 most recent posts but then keep and archive of older posts in a hierarchical structure in the Frontier database. I also hooked up Frontier to Eudora so I could post from work by sending email to my home machine. It was cool – and lasted about 2 weeks.
Now my wife writes a zine while she’s searching for a publisher for her manuscript and it got me thinking about writing. So here we go – do you think it will keep going longer than 2 weeks?
