Where’s the beef?

Reading Time: 1

Yesterday’s “A” section only had 8 pages. Today we only got 10 pages. Now considering that 2 pages are always dedicated to Op/Ed in the “A” section that leaves only 6 and 8 pages respectively of news coverage. Today’s paper only had 14 stories in the “A” section. To make matters worse, the IowaLife section had only 6 pages – and not a single story that can be attibuted to a Register writer. Are they trying to conserve paper at the Register?

The best news stories were buried in the Business section. The story on a biodiesel plant planned for Western-Iowa was good. The Register should do a better job of covering agriculture issues. These are important to many outside the agri-business world and with Iowa’s leadership on all things agricultural the editors would do well to move these type of topics to the “A” section. And of course the AP story on the polling results about SS private accounts should have been moved to the “A” section.
