Justin Roberts’ zooTunes Concert

Reading Time: 1

Kyle Munson, the Des Moines Register’s music critic, has his review of the Justin Robert’s concert on Sunday at the Blank Park Zoo online. My observations from the concert are:

  • They need to setup the stage in a place where there is more shade. 5 p.m. during the summer sun is not the optimum time to be sitting listening to music. Luckily, there was one large tree offering a cool spot to sit.
  • The zoo staff seemed surprised by the turn out. When we bought our tickets the staffer said, “Wow, this guy must really be good. This is most people we’ve had for a concert so far.” Uhhh, zoo and kid’s music, they seem like an obvious combination for crowds.

It was a fun concert where the highlight (at least for our kids) was actually the inflating of the hot-air baloon timed just right for the encore of “Yellow Bus.”
